During their annual meeting held in Makati recently, the stockholders of BancNet, the country\u2019s largest electronic banking consortium, elected the corporation\u2019s board of directors for the term 2013-2014.<\/p>\n
These are: Carmelita R. Araneta (Bank of Commerce), Roberto P. Blas (Citibank), George P. Castro (Philtrust), Ricardo R. Chua (China Bank), Abigail M. Del Rosario (Standard Chartered Bank), Joseph B. Estavillo (Chinatrust), Jovencio DB. Hernandez (PNB), Ma. Theresa M. Jesudason (DBP), Eriene C. Lao (PBCom), Mark B. Perez (Metrobank), Wilfredo E. Rodriquez, Jr. (Asia United Bank), Ismael R. Sandig (RCBC), Manuel C. Tagaza (Bank of the Philippine Islands), Marilyn M. Tiongson (Land Bank), and Daniel U. Yu (Security Bank)<\/p>\n
The stockholders also elected the members of the Board of Advisers for the same term, namely: Ralph B. Cadiz (Sterling Bank of Asia), Jesus Vicente O. Garcia (Veterans Bank), Lance A. Martinez (HSBC), Alan David C. Matutina (Equicom Savings Bank), Dennis I. Paredes (Robinsons Bank), and Gerardo Susmerano (East West Bank).<\/p>\n
During the Board\u2019s organizational meeting that followed, Abigail Del Rosario was elected Chairman of the Board and Robert Blas was re-elected President.<\/p>\n
Del Rosario represents Standard Chartered Bank where she is General Manager and Head of Branch Sales and Services for the Philippines. She was formerly Vice Chairperson of the BancNet Board.<\/p>\n
On the other hand, Blas is Vice President and Country Technology Head at Citibank which he represents in the Board. He is on his third term as BancNet president.<\/p>\n
Other principal officers elected were: Ricardo R. Chua, Vice Chairman; Ismael R. Sandig, Treasurer; Agnes H. Maranan, Corporate Secretary; and Elmarie S. Reyes, Assistant Corporate Secretary.<\/p>\n
Del Rosario and Chua also co-chair the Executive Committee while Blas heads the Project Steering Committee together with Hernandez as co-Chair.<\/p>\n
As the largest electronic banking consortium in the country, BancNet currently has 109 members, including two affiliate switch networks. It also has the biggest ATM network which counts more than 10,000 ATMs, comprising 76% of all the ATMs in the country.<\/p>\n
